The portrait procedure begins with a discussion between the artist and client during which the color, composition and background of the portrait is decided. Clothing, setting and where the portrait will hang will also be considered. During this time, Ford will take numerous photographs for reference and make notes and sketches of certain details. Ford enjoys understanding the personality of the subject and is known for capturing the emotions of the subject as well as the likeness.
She will then return to her studio and begin work on a sketch that will be presented for the clients approval. With that, the artist will begin to paint the portrait. Upon completion of the portrait, it will be delivered to the client with insured satisfaction.
