About Shari Ford
Shari Ford is an internationally recognized artist who creates exceptional likenesses that capture the spirit of the individual. Her portraits are treasured by many and can be found in both private and corporate collections throughout the United States.
After many years of painting classical portraits, Ford now paints by inspiration rather than commissions.
Her aim is to render a fleeting moment, to eternalize a darling movement, a precious twirl or pose from the joyful and carefree days of childhood in beautiful gardens and natural settings. Less detailed than official portraits, these small sized paintings focus on emotions, capturing the true essence and ‘impressions’ of these early years of life.
Ford's formal training came from the University of Tennessee where she earned a B.F.A. degree. She continued her education with independent studies in Europe of the Old Master's compositions and techniques. This inspired her to use a classical approach to her portraits. Over the years, her studies of impressionists, such as the brushstrokes of John Singer Sargent and the clear, light flooded color of American Impressionist George Benson, have greatly influenced her painting style. Ford has been featured in International Artist magazine in their Master Portrait Artist Showcase. She has also been featured in numerous other publications such as Veranda and Southern Accent.
What clients say:
"My family and I can't begin to express how thrilled we are with the portrait. You have captured the very essence of each of my daughters- I see their personalities as well as their beauty. Even the dogs are exactly perfect in the same way! It was a pleasure to have this experience with you! Thank you!"

"Shari, today I stand in amzement at the masterpiece you created. You captured my children. They are absolutely beautiful! Looking at them throughout the day keeps me knowing my main purpose during this season of my life...being a mom. I have stopped several times during the last 2 days just to take them in because they are so breathtaking. They remind me to STOP, thank God for my children and enjoy them. What an honor and privilege to be able to have my children captured forever at the precious age of 4 1/2."
"I didn't want to waste any time letting you know how pleased Shirley and I are with the painting! In fact, there's not a thing we want you to change! Thanks again for sharing your tremendous talent with us, Shari! Grace and peace to you and your family in the days ahead.
